Athletics Day

The weather was kind to us and we finally had our day on the field. Some of us participated in field events that we had been preselected for in previous weeks while the rest of us played tabloid games. We all participated in the sprints.

Well done to all those children who gained places in events. The Year 4-6 place holders are off to the inter-school athletics held next week.  Good luck!

ROC Day 2015

Last Friday was ROC Day at our school, ROC stands for Respect Our Community.

We are split into groups of children from across the school and participate in a different activity during each of the three blocks. The teachers all run different programmes for the day, some take art and others, team building and sports activities. During the middle block all the Middle and Senior Syndicate children go on long walks around our community, picking up rubbish along the way and discovering new parks and walks they could do with their families in our community.

Mrs Hanson ran an art lesson during the first and last block and the children in teams H and R helped to make two wonderful trees using packaging from lunch boxes in Rooms 14, 15, 16 and 17 collected through the week.

Rebus Stories

After the holidays we wrote a personal recount and then published it as a rebus story. This means that we replaced some words with pictures or part of a word with a picture. For example if we wanted to write the word 'I' we would draw an eye instead or 'house' we would draw a tiny picture of a house.

It was pretty tricky copying our edited work from our draft books and remembering to draw pictures instead of words! Mrs Hanson thinks we all did a great job though.

This published work is by Quinn, Ben, Fay, Thomas and Joshua H.

Welcome Back to Sunny Bee!

At our singing assembly on Friday afternoon Room 17 were so fabulous that we won Sunny Bee! He gets to spend the next few weeks in our classroom. We all had perfect assembly manners and were singing our hearts out to receive Sunny Bee!

Mrs Keeley also discovered that Sunny Bee has a squeak! What a surprise! Sunny Bee has been around Sunnybrae for a few years now and we have only just discovered his sqeak (at the top of his right leg).

Well done Room 17, Mrs Hanson is very proud of you all! :)
